The Vedanta self
Truth is one. The sages speak of it in different ways
Such is this diciple da Maharshi: Harilal, who will come to push Henri Le Saux to an even greater stripping down... and visiting his cave and the books that are still there he says to him:
"What's the point of all this? These books... all this time wasted learning languages... in what language do we converse with the âtman?...
Now I don't read at all, or I read so little that it's as good as gone...
Not even the Gîta, whose verses used to sing constantly in my heart... I meditate no more...
the âtman has nothing to do with meditation...
nor with Japa (the repetition of God's name)
nor with mantras (litanies) ...and other prayers...
all these are practiced when you're still a child...
you need them then...
but it's all a game... the game of the lilâ (divine game)...
Stop praying...
stop your rituals...
stop contemplating this or that...
just realize that you are...TAT TVAM ASI...You are That.!...
There is no difference anywhere!...
there is only the âtman... God is the âtman...
The Self of all that is... the Self alone exists...."
Then the disciple can say to the Master:
"You have taken us to the other shore beyond non-knowledge..."
