Henan traditional stick
It is a traditional discipline included in the practice of Classical Martial Arts.
The Chinese used the stick in the practice of their Classical Martial Arts and the Shaolin School therefore paid great attention to its study.
It was also highly prized by the initiates of the Tao who represented Laozi (Lao Tzu) with a dragon-shaped stick. It is therefore still studied in the "External" or "hard" arts from Shaolin as well as in the "Internal" or "soft" arts such as classical Taiji Quan (Tai Chi Chuan).
Very early in history, under Chinese influence, the Art of the Stick spread throughout the Far East...
The proposed practice is directly derived from the art of the classical peasant stick.
. This practice is renowned both for its energetic value, linked to the strengthening of health, and for its martial efficiency in combat.
This method was based on the principle of the "Five Movements" which generate and dominate each other:
This form is quite short and contains the essence of attack and defence movements... The fighting position allows, in fact, multiple combinations... For nearly two millennia the Art of the Stick has been an integral part of the Martial Art... it can now be part of the Art of Living! ( Georges Charles)
